Shri Mangesh Devasthan Goa

Mangueshi Temple

Shri Mangueshi temple (श्री मंगेशी मंदीर) is located at Mangeshi, and a must visit spot for all visitors to Goa. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mangueshi, an incarnation of Shiva. Lord Mangueshi is a kuldevta (family deity) of many GSB across the world. He is also referred to as Saib (The Lord of Goa).

Lord Shiva’s temple at Kushasthal (present day Cortalim) was a place of pilgrimage till the Portuguese took over this part of Goa in 1560. Devotees moved the Shri Mangesh Shivalinga from Kutthal to a safer place under a Hindu prince, which now is known as Mangeshi.
