Ambreshwar Shiv Mandir, Maharashtra

The Ambarnath Shiv Mandir or Ambreshwar Shiva Mandir is a beautiful rock temple. It was built by the Shilahara King Chittaraja in the 11th century.The temple was later rebuilt by Chittaraja’s son Mummuni. many also believe that the pandavas built this out of a single block of stone in one night. The temple is set on the slope of a barren hill by the banks of a tributary of the river Vadvan(Waldhuni). The image of Shivji is on the tower of the temple. The temple is made of black rock and has intrecet carvings on its many pillars.

The temple is barely 30 km from Thane, near Mumbai.
